First symptom of brakes that need to be changed are when they are grinding or scratching. Second symptom is when your brakes make a loud screeching or a high pitch noise. This is caused by a condition called glazed. This happens when a person constantly does excessive braking causing the rotors to get too hot. The rotors then are burned.

A third condition that happens to your brakes is vibrations. When your rotors or drums are warped, when you are braking this will cause a vibration. This happens when their is too much heat and this causesthem to lose their shape. When it occurs, your rotor has to be replaced.
A final problem to look at is when your brakes pull. What occurs when you are braking is your vehicle want to pull in one direction. This occurs when the brake calipers are not being applied evenly. This happens due to a fluid leak. To determine which side the leak is coming from, a brake professional needs to take a look. How you fix this is by replacing the caliper removing all the air out of the brakes.
