Where Do You Live?

State:

Minnesota is a gorgeous state to visit with a large variety of scenic and great roads to show off your driving skills and to test how your new Infiniti, Kia or Nissan handles the road. MN has tons to offer including a ton of lakes, forests and prairies. As you can imagine it’s perfect for the individual who enjoys outdoors activities.  However, there are a few treacherous roads too that should be avoided. Let’s take a look at some of the most dangerous roads in the Minneapolis and Twin Cities area.

I-35W Mississippi River Bridge

This bridge is one of the busiest bridges in the state of MN; tons of commuters drive across it on a daily basis. However, the bridge actually crashed in 2007 resulting in thirteen deaths and numerous serious accidents. This bridge is particularly dangerous because “black ice” used to form on the bridge during the 80’s and 90’s resulting in many drivers to lose control of their vehicles. However, the state covered the bridge with potassium acetate which prevented the black ice from forming again. Ready to buy a Kia, Infiniti or Nissan? Highway 14

There is a stretch of road between Mankato and New Ulm that is particularly treacherous for drivers. This area has experienced a very high number of fatal accidents; almost twice as much as the rest of Minnesota. The reason why it’s so dangerous is because it has lots of twists and turns and blind intersections. In addition it’s travelled by many trucks. There are parts of the highway that only have two lanes where you have many cars trying to squeeze by at high speeds; a recipe for disaster. Lack of funds is the main reason why the highway hasn’t been updated to modern standards. Dealers at Visit Minneapolis Nissan for a great selection of new and used cars in Minneapolis, MN.

Interstate 94

Minneapolis and St Paul are connected by this freeway. Speeding is a common occurence on this road. That combined with numerous construction zones and poor weather conditions can result in plenty of accidents. Visit champlin used cars proudly serve Minneapolis, St Paul and Twin Cities in Minnesota.

There are a few ways to reduce the risk of an accident or collision whether you’re in Minnesota or anywhere else. It’s a bad idea to speed. You have a higher chance of losing control of your vehicle if you drive too fast. Always leave lots of room between your car and the one in front of you. This will give you ample of time to press on the brakes in case of an emergency. Don’t talk or text on the phone when behind the wheel. Nothing is more dangerous than driving distractedly.
