The Escalade Hybrid is the perfect vehicle for consumers that want to go green and still get the luxury of a Cadillac SUV,. The Cadillac Escalade Hybrid seats up to eight. It is the only full luxxury SUV with a two mode hybrid system on the market. The best part about the Escalade Hybrid is that it has 50% better fuel efficiency than any other conventional model, all because of its two mode hybrid powertrain.
The Cadillac Escalade’s two-mode hybrid system combines GM’s Vortec 6.0L V8 with the company’s new Electrically Variable Transmission (EVT). The EVT system has two electric motors and four fixed gears.The V-8 engine in the Hybrid has the brand’s Active Fuel Management System, allowing four-cylinders to shut off in light load conditions and ultimately conserving fuel.The gasoline engine shuts off at stops or when idoling but restarts when needed, while the electric motor allows the engine to run in a 4 cylider mode more often.
With light throttle, the electric motors can propel the New Cadillac Escalade up to 30 mph, but together the electric motor and gasoline engine produce 332 hp and 367lb.ft. of torque.Located under the second row seats lies a 300-Volt battery pack that powers all electric engines, the steering system, and the electrically driven air conditioning compressor. Regenerative braking also charges the batteries. The Hybrid comes available in either front of all wheel drive.The hybrid powertrain is only available on a standard length Escalade.
As far as towing capability, the new Cadillac Escalade will be rated to tow up to 6000 pounds with rear wheel drive and 5700 pounds with all wheel drive.The Escalade Hybrid comes equipped with and eight inch touch screen showcasing a hybrid drive system, allowing the driver to see which mode the SUV is functioning in. The Hybrid comes with an economy guage, which has green and red bars to represent which zones drivers should drive in to get the best mpg.The Escalade hybrid also has an Auto Stop reader on the RPM gauge to let drivers know when the gas engine is off.
